Description

SUMMARY

As Unit Nurse Manager you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. However, revisions may take place as needed to reflect related responsibilities that would logically be assigned to this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct, evaluate and supervise all resident care on designated unit.
  • Perform ongoing resident assessments to ensure the delivery of medical and nursing interventions to maintain the highest functional level possible.
  • Supervise the implementation of care plan directives, making sure all information has been communicated to the appropriate team members.
  • Assure the completion and accuracy of all required documentations, re: admissions/readmissions, physician orders and transfers to the acute hospital, clinical appt. or other facilities.
  • Perform daily rounds with staff members and with the Physician during weekly visits.
  • Coordinate the completion of all required assessment tools per facility policy/procedure.
  • Ensures daily staffing needs are met, maintaining open communications with the 3-11 and 11-7 supervisors.
  • Assure follow-up of recommendations from clinical appointments/ER visits.
  • Monitor ordering and use of needed supplies and medications.
  • Complete requested performance evaluations: 30+60+90
  • Demonstrate understanding of and utilize proper infection control policies/practices.
  • Implement disciplinary actions per facility and departmental policy.
  • Provide nursing supervisory coverage as scheduled and PRN.
  • Quarterly and PRN in-services to current staff re: new procedures or information.
  • Quarterly Q.A report as assigned. Submit schedule reports to the Director of Nursing.
  • Maintain current communication with Director of Nursing.
  • Active participation on various committees.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and secure environment for residents.
  • Assist resident to maintain optimal nutrition and hydration status.
  • Act in compliance with Eliza Bryant Village, regulatory and professional standards and guidelines
  • Reports any allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property
  • Maintains confidentiality of necessary information
  • Thinks and acts calmly and logically to meet unusual occurrences of the job without being thrown off stride.
  • Establishes and maintains good public relations with residents, families and other guests and show empathy toward residents
  • Ensures all call lights are in reach and answers call lights promptly.
  • Attend meetings and in-service sessions, as directed.
  • Access continuing education opportunities appropriate to discipline and responsibilities in order to maintain clinical currency.
  • Adheres to facility policies and procedures and participates in facility quality improvement and safety programs.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Current license in the state of Ohio
  2. Must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing/BSN preferable but not required.
  3. Preferred a minimum of three(3) years of experience in long term care or charge nurse/supervisory capacity.
  4. Well groomed, professional dress. When in personal clothing, a lab coat is to be worn on nursing units.
  5. Ability to make independent decisions related to clinical/staff concerns.
  6. Maintain effective leadership skills.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education: Registered Nurse/BSN Degree

Language Skills: Proficient in spoken and written English

Mathematical Skills: High School level basic math
